My practical guidance (not a school rule)

I trained at QUT, and when I was offered my place the school phoned me. That was six or seven years ago and QUT publishes nothing about a call at offer stage, so take it as one graduate's experience rather than something to count on.

First-round tasks

1. Monologue. Choose from QUT's list, or from a list of pieces provided by another acting school you are applying for. Official offers are made from December onward after academic and English requirements are checked. You may instead be placed on a reserve list, and WAAPA will contact you if a place becomes available. Phase 2

Phase 2 is a live on-site workshop at the Conservatorium, 28 September to 2 October 2026, and offers are made on this workshop. Bring your Phase 1 monologue and a second, contrasting monologue: modern, or classical written before 1950 from Shakespeare, Jacobean, Greek, Roman, Restoration or early Australian drama, each no longer than two minutes. The workshop also covers solo and group improvisation, sight reading from material provided on the day, and your spoken voice assessed during the acting. [3][2]

Outcome

Offers commence 20 November 2026, and QTAC publishes a further offer round on 23 December 2026. Missing 4 September is not necessarily terminal: Griffith and QTAC both say late applicants may be considered in subsequent auditions and offer rounds if places are still available. An offer cannot be deferred, and it lapses if you have not enrolled in at least one class by 5pm on your response day; lapsed offers are not automatically reinstated. This degree is excluded from the Guaranteed Admission Scheme. [3][2][1]

Respond in order to Griffith's nine directives: you are chased and enter the space; the space calms you and you find shelter; you find an object; you explore its weight; it transforms into something magical; you hear voices outside the room; you search for a hiding place; you find another door; you decide whether to leave with the object or leave it behind. These are the other Australian programs I looked at, and why each one is not in the guide. I read official public material across every state and territory. That was a bounded search rather than a census: a program missing from this list was not found in that sweep, not ruled out. This is not the full list of acting programs in Australia, and I am not claiming it is. Routes with academic-only entry, an interview instead of an audition, or a non-degree qualification are listed for completeness, so you can see what I set aside and judge it for yourself. Each entry links the official pages behind it, and where two official pages disagree I show both.
